About Agaao Project
A generational storytelling app.
Our Mission
Stories are the threads that bind us—they connect, inspire, and transform.
Agaao is a storytelling app where memory ignites movement.
We are the voice of a generation that found its way through the wreckage of post-1971 Bangladesh.
Every story here builds something bigger: a living record of how we survived, navigated chaos, and forged ahead. This isn't just for us. It's a beacon for those who come next, facing their own battles in whatever world awaits.
Join us in building a movement that honors struggle and triumph—preserving hard-won wisdom for generations now and future.
Defining Agaao Generation
If you were a student in Bangladesh between 1971 and 1990, you came of age during the most turbulent period in our nation's history. These nineteen years—from independence to the return of democracy—unfolded under extraordinary pressure: military coups, political assassinations, economic upheaval, and long stretches when democratic institutions simply vanished.
This was "a generation against all odds" (AGAAO).
Scholars call this era Bangladesh's "institutional vacuum," when democratic norms collapsed and authoritarian rule took hold. But for those of us who lived it, the experience was profoundly personal. The years we spent in school, college, and university didn't just educate us—they forged our values, resilience, and how we see the world.
We share a formative landscape that shaped a distinct worldview, a collective cultural memory, and a resilience that still defines us today. Our stories aren't just personal recollections. Together, they form a historical narrative—a testament to how a generation learned to rise, rebuild, and keep moving forward against impossible odds.
This is the legacy we're here to record. This is the chapter of Bangladesh's history that only we can tell.
Founder's Note
We've always been captivated by the magic of stories; the way they preserve what matters, pass down wisdom, and connect one generation to the next.
Agaao is born from that passion.
Growing up in Bangladesh during its most pivotal years, we saw firsthand how stories shape who we become. This platform is our way of honoring that tradition while embracing what's possible in our digital age.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your story matters. Together, we're writing what comes next.
